A closer look at this character

The early stages establish the eyes and central face; later marks build the mouth and surrounding details. Keep each numbered picture beside your own drawing.

What kind of pencil task is this?

This free step-by-step monster drawing lesson shows six stages rather than supplying an outline to trace. How to Draw carries ages 5+ guidance. Use separate paper for your version: this sample is the reference lesson page. It can be repeated on a new sheet if the artist wants to experiment with another expression.

Make the next idea your own

After the six stages, consider what the high-set eyes could help the creature see. Add an imagined object on separate paper.

Character labels on this site describe the pictured features; they are not presented as official character names.
